Weekend Volleyball Court Use

 Management has just informed me that there will be a ten dollar per person court use on weekends also, no children will be allowed on the premise. Personal thermoses are still forbidden. All fees for court use on weekends will be paid at the bar

Unfortunately, this has to be done due to the rising costs of the liability insurance.

Awe that is too bad, sometimes I only can play an hour or so. Oh well it was a fun place to play on the weekend.

I spoke to the owner 7 years ago to get permission to play pickup on Sundays. When I saw the comments about the $10 charge on facebook last week I reached out to the owner. I asked why and his response is you pay to go to the movies and you need to remember this is a business. I then ran him through an example of what happens on some Sundays. The text goes out we believe we have enough to play so we head out. Then folks start to cancel or not show for many reason and there are on 3 of us there. I asked what would happen his response was I'd have $30. I got the impression that OTI really doesn't want pickup volleyball on Sunday. Does anyone have a connection at Ward Hill? I'm happy to give them a call to see if we can play pickup there.

$10 to play pickup is ridiculous. You make some good points as well. No one want to pay 10 if only a few people show up. Also if you get a good turnout without the $10 to play you get revenue from selling drinks. He should look at it like a feature of his bar. We have a volleyball court. Come and have some drinks and play volleyball. Not something like going to the movies.

It's a business? That's like charging people to play dart or pool. The court is a feature that most bars don't have. Lean into that and let people use the court and sell drinks. That's what bars do. Sell drinks. The fact that he said I would have $30 tell you all you need to know.
